Vegas Kings Dominate Southern Cal Bulldogs

On Saturday, August 14, 2010, the Vegas Kings hosted the Southern Cal Bulldogs at the Kingdom.  For the Bulldogs, it might as well have been unlucky Friday the 13th, as they were ruled 44 – 6 by the Kings.

Unlike the game two weeks ago, this was a well balanced Kings team, where offense, defense and special teams all dominated.

The Kings’ offense scored repeatedly and consistently, while the defense kept up the pressure on the Bulldogs ‘quarterback, keeping the Bulldogs from finding any rhythm through the game.

The domination started early as special teams scored first, when the Kings’ Tico Pringle returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.  This put the Kings up 7 – 0.

Later in the first quarter, the Kings blocked a Bulldogs field goal attempt.

The next score was by the Bulldogs, when they scored a touchdown in the second quarter to move the score to 7 – 6.  The Kings blocked the extra point attempt.

That would be the final Bulldogs score of the night.

The Kings scored two more times in the second quarter.  Stacey Martin, wide receiver, scored on a 49 yard pass to put the Kings up 14 – 6.  An interception by defensive back Herb Askew would give the Kings another chance to score.  And, as was the case the rest of the evening, they did. Justin Shepard, running back,  rushed for a touchdown giving the Kings a 15 point lead at 21 – 6.

The second half did not get any better for the Bulldogs.

A fumble recovery by Vegas Kings’ defensive end Reyven Lagmey early in the third quarter would halt the Bulldogs opening drive.  The Kings would score on a touchdown reception by Terrance Hall, putting the score at 28 – 6 and increasing the lead to 22 points.

Lagmey came up big again when he recovered another Bulldogs fumble a few minutes later.  This would help to set up a 43 yard field goal by Brad Faunce.  The score was now 31 – 6.

The next score, still in the third quarter, was a touchdown by Cole MiyaHira, bringing the score to 37 – 6.

Later, the Bulldogs defense showed some signs of life when they blocked a field goal attempt by Faunce.

To cap off the evening, the Vegas Kings Darkside Domination Defense came up big again, when DeMario Lay picked off a Bulldogs pass and returned it for a touchdown.

The final score for the evening was 44 – 6.  The Kings, in this victory, managed to put up 38 unanswered points on the Bulldogs.

The Kings’s Darkside Domination Defense had three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, one sack and one touchdown  for the night. On the offensive side, Jonathan Emelo passed for 177 yards, had three touchdowns and one interception.

The Vegas Kings host The Tri County Titans next Saturday, August 21, 2010.  Kickoff is at 7:30, and Gates open at 6:30.  The Vegas Kings play at Desert Pines High School, aka The Kingdom,  located at 3800 Harris Avenue.
