Vegas Kings Pound California Bears

Written by Joe Buda

In a game where the Vegas Kings were so confident in their ability to score, they decided not to play their kicker, the Kings forced the California Bears into an early hibernation with a score of 28 – 0 in a one-sided display of their dominance.

As was the case with many of their games this season, the King’s opponent had a chance, up until the game started.  After that, it was all Kings.

Here are some of the key plays of the game:

Tico Pringle started the scoring off by returning a punt 55-yards for a touchdown, putting the Kings up 6 – 0 (the Kings 2-point conversion was unsuccessful).

Next to score was Justin Shepard, rushing 2-yards for a touchdown.

At the half- the score was 12 – 0 Kings.

After the half, a Jeremiah Dotson touchdown reception put the Kings up 20 – 0. The Kings 2-point conversion was successful.

A  20-yard reception for a touchdown by former UNLV standout Jay Staggs would by the final score of the game. The Kings 2-point conversion was successful.

The Kings win with a final score of 28 – 0.

The stat leaders for the day were Jonathan Emelo who went 10 of 18 for 145 yards and a touchdown, Staggs with 3 receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown, and Shepard, rushing for 31 yards and a touchdown.

But most notable was the Kings “Darkside Domination Defense” which prevented their opponent from scoring for a second consecutive week.

The Vegas Kings return home to the Kingdom on October 9 in their final regular season game.  The game starts at 7:30pm, while gates open at 6:30 pm.
