Join the Conversation: Friday marks one of the luckiest days in history (11/11/11), and in @Vegas we believe in BIG luck!

Today marks one of the luckiest dates in history, and what better place to celebrate than Las Vegas. In a fashion only “The Entertainment Capital of the World” could create, the destination celebrated the once-in-a-lifetime date of 11-11-11 in a colossal way, by setting the Guinness World Record for the largest fuzzy dice.

Showcased before the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, 11 Donn Arden’s Jubilee! Showgirls from Bally’s Las Vegas, clad in brightly-colored headdresses, presented the pair of 4-foot-by-4-foot, pink and orange dice at 11:11 a.m. (EST) accompanied by a classic pink Cadillac. Guinness World Records stated that to set the record a pair of fuzzy dice must be created 10 times the size of a standard set.

“Las Vegas is synonymous with world-class entertainment, dining, shopping and nightlife,” said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “Setting the world record for the largest fuzzy dice represents Las Vegas’ ability to continually reinvent itself and showcase its unique culture.”

With more than 37 million visitors annually, Las Vegas ranks as one of the world’s most popular destinations.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) is charged with marketing Southern Nevada as a tourism and convention destination worldwide, and also with operating the Las Vegas Convention Center and Cashman Center. With approximately 150,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas alone and more than 10.5 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space citywide, the LVCVA mission centers on attracting ever-increasing numbers of leisure and business visitors to the area.
