The number 8 is the symbol of infinity and it fundamentally means power. Our Life comes loaded each day with infinite potential, infinite opportunities and infinite possibilities. In liquid measurements there are 8 ounces in a cup and 8 pints in a gallon. There was a TV show sitcom about a large family called “Eight is Enough,” The Beatles sang “8 Days a Week,” Eminem and Kim Basinger starred in the movie “8 Mile” and we were introduced to the “8th Wonder of the World” in the movie “King Kong.” The closer we bring the two movie reels together on a movie projector, the more it resembles the shape of the number 8. In older movies, the original film sizes were Standard 8, Super 8 or 8mm film. Every chessboard has 8 even squares on each line and 8 even squares on each row. In Chess, each player has 8 pawns and 8 officers.
The Eight of Hearts is the “Charm” Card
The natural tendency of the mind is to move in the direction of increasing charm. We naturally want more and more joy and ever increasing happiness. Joy and happiness originate from our response to the things in Life that charm us the most. We naturally and without any strenuous effort, gravitate to things that we find most appealing or charming. For example, in the produce section of a supermarket, we naturally choose the fruits and vegetables that look the most appealing to eat. We also choose lovers and our closest friends by those to whom we are most attracted. We are attracted to people and things we find the most charming and the most pleasing or to things that are beautiful, joyful, profitable, beneficial, fulfilling and satisfying.
A geometric shape with 8 even sides is called an octagon. The standard Stop Sign is an octagon.
We can use the 8 to remind us that we shall overcome any challenges we face, one way or another, dead or alive. The power to overcome is symbolized by the 8. The glorious and infinite nature of Life provides more stars than we can count and exists throughout space beyond what we can see or comprehend.
The Eight of Hearts also means “the power of love” and the reason why we shall overcome. In the final analysis, it will all boil down to the power of love. The power of love will keep us from quitting or giving up. The power of love causes forgiveness and conquers anger. In the final analysis we might ask – Did we love our neighbors as we loved ourselves? Did we love our gift of Life and the Source of it enough to live it, enjoy it and never complain about it? Did we love the truth enough to do what we know to be right? Did we love our planet enough to take care of it? The power of love is why we will be victorious, triumphant, recover from and prevail over any situation or circumstance – come what may. In this moment, we are awakened into the realization that we are shining the light of the Infinite & Eternal Life that is rooted in and governed by the power of love.
Eternal Blessings
