ABC may have another guilty pleasure on its hands come Sunday nights this fall when “666 Park Avenue” debuts after returning favorites “Once Upon a Time” and “Revenge.”
“666 Park Avenue” is based on a novel of the same name by Gabriella Pierce.
The show follows a Midwest couple as they move to Manhattan to manage The Drake, possibly one of the most seductive and evil buildings in the history of television.
Once people move in they do not move out as The Drake keeps a hold on all of its residents.
David Annable (Brothers & Sisters) plays building manager Henry Martin, while Rachel Taylor (Transformers) plays his girlfriend Jane.
The show also includes other notable television veterans, including Terry O’Quinn (Lost, Hawaai Five-O) and Vanessa Williams (Desperate Housewives) who play Gavin and Olivia Doran. The Dorans own The Drake and it has been hinted that the couple is a true power couple, complete with dark powers, powers which emanate from the building.
In fact, according to O’Quinn, The Drake “has a wicked, dangerous power.”
“They select the people who occupy the building,” Williams noted. “They are very seductive. They are a power couple.”
The Drake is home to eighty residents, who we will get to meet as the show progresses.
Annable has described the show as one about “seduction. How everyone has a need or a want.” The lengths people will go to get what they desire will be featured on the show.
The residents find out that everything they want and desire is taken care of when they live at The Drake, but there is a high price to play.
According to Taylor, “It’s about two young people that move into an apartment building which is very enticing on the outside.” But looks can be deceiving.
Williams’ take on the show is that it has a mix of “The Shining,” “Rosemary’s Baby” and the “warm glow of ABC television.”
With a fun premise and the perfect pairing following “Once Upon a Time” and “Revenge” this could end up as one of the breakout hits of the year.
“666 Park Avenue” premiers on ABC on September 30 at 10 p.m. immediately following the season premiere of “Revenge.”
