That’s right folks! Ric Drasin has just been awarded the first ever Joe Gold Lifetime Achievement award out in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mirage. The last time we left Ric, he was doing amazing with “Ric’s Corner,” co- hosting a show on AfterBuzz TV and still staying true to the Golden Era of bodybuilding lifestyle with his daily training and healthy eating habits. You may have thought Ric was done and ready to finally relax, but as The Equalizer has told me.” It’s only beginning at this point!”
Ric was awesome enough to give The Informer an hour of his time to talk to us about this achievement and to catch up with what’s in store for us in the near future. As always, Ric was full of positive energy that was as vibrant as it was refreshing. He wasted no time getting right into things and, of course, the interview was inspiring all on its own.
Ric holding his new gem: The Joe Gold Lifetime Achievement award. Ric is the 1st person to ever receive this.
Sean: Ric! How’s it going man? How are you feeling? How does it feel to be the first ever recipient of the Joe Gold Lifetime Achievement award?
Ric: Well besides my water heater going out, I’m awesome! Winning this award was a complete surprise to me. I had no idea that such a thing even existed! So you can imagine I was shocked when I got the call, but I am deeply honored. Joe Gold was an amazing human being and a good man. He was the type of guy that if he liked you; you knew it. If he didn’t like you; he would make it very obvious.
Sean: I can only imagine. I know you played a huge role in designing the Gold’s Gym shirt and the World Gym shirt that can be purchased on Bodybuilding.com as well as a relationship with Joe seeing as you were around his gym when all the other guys were around. It had a family vibe to it. Congratulations from all of us at The Informer on this award, that’s awesome. What do you think made this happen for you?
Ric: Well I feel that all I did was just stay positive, keeping positive and just being myself. I loved bodybuilding so I did it. I also loved to wrestle, so I did that as well. I did what I loved because I feel that if you love what you do, you will succeed greatly. I know times can get tough, but you always got to wake up with a smile. The past is just the past, and it is not going to be in your future. I live for today and only today. The past is gone and the future hasn’t happened yet. World Gym felt I fit their criteria for this award and I am forever grateful for this honor.
The hulk and the demi-hulk: Lou and Ric. Fun Fact: These two guys are the only guys would have worked out with Chuck Norris and survive to tell the tale.
Sean: I love the positive mindset you have Ric. It is retroactive in many ways. This mindset has brought you here to this point and it’s helped you in many other ways as well, hasn’t it?
Ric: Of course! I wouldn’t have done anything that I have done if I wasn’t always positive. Ric’s Corner just hit over 4 million views! Obviously this positive mindset is working. I have an online book that you can read on my website and I know for a fact that if I wasn’t positive or passionate about it, it never would have been written in the first place.
Sean: Do you have anything up and coming that we don’t know about yet?
Ric: As a matter of fact, I do. Ric’s Corner is doing very well and I am making moves to make it a radio show or podcast. I will be able to have call-ins, sponsors and many more guests at a time as well. So I’m really excited about this. I am thinking about writing another book, primarily focused on staying positive and how it affects everything in our lives. The wrestling school is still doing well and, all in all, I’m a very happy and satisfied man. I have my business, I have my show, I have my family with me and I am still healthy so what more could I possibly ask for?
Sean: You have the life!! All through: hard work, dedication, commitment and a positive mind. Is that right?
Ric: Yes, absolutely correct. Again, all you need to do is just be you. Don’t worry about things you have no control over, it does nothing but harm. Wake up with a smile. The past is gone, so just forget about it. Everything will work out if you just stay positive and keep going.
Ric Drasin with up and coming Figure competitor: Feather Hadden. Watch out for her in a possible reality show with Ric himself!
Sean: You know we have to talk a little wrestling with you, don’t you? Favorite wrestler now, who is it?
Ric: Oh no, that’s a hard question to answer. The guys out there now have a lot of talent like John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, etc. It’s difficult to pick one. If I had to show who would be the most fun to watch, that would be CM Punk. Sure, he plays the heel but he plays it so well. He is interesting, always spontaneous and he definitely paid his dues to get to where he is. I respect that and, as a wrestler, I respect him.
Sean: Ric, thank you so much for your time. Can you leave all of us with some final words?
Ric: Stay connected with me. I’m on Facebook. I’m on Twitter. Stay with me, because I have a lot to do and, as always, I have a lot to say about: Wrestling, Bodybuilding, The good old’ days and Health and Fitness.
