Local Students Volunteer to Pack Holiday Food Boxes

Eighth grade students from Saint Anne Catholic School will be preparing Thanksgiving food boxes on Nov. 20 as part of the Arizona Charlie’s Feed a Family program.  Once complete, the boxes will be distributed to clients of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority.

Each food box will contain everything to prepare an entire Thanksgiving meal for four people. It will include a 10-pound turkey, stuffing, gravy, mixed vegetables, potatoes, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and whipped cream.

The food boxes are a gift from Arizona Charlie’s players who had the ability to contribute their ace | PLAY points to buy a food box. In addition, Arizona Charlie’s Casinos, Boulder and Decatur, are donating additional food boxes.

Players were invited to contribute 12,000 ace | PLAY points to pay for one food box.  In some cases, players went above and beyond.  One Arizona Charlie’s player donated 200,000 points to the Feed a Family program.

“This is a great way for Arizona Charlie’s and our ace | PLAY members to work together and truly support those in need in our community,” said Mark Majetich, General Manager Arizona Charlie’s Boulder.

“When given the opportunity, our players are more than happy to support those less fortunate.  We think Arizona Charlie’s players will take advantage of this,” said Ron Lurie, General Manager Arizona Charlie’s Decatur.

Clients of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (SNRHA) were chosen to receive the food boxes based on their average annual income of $10,450.  Once the food boxes are prepared by students, members of SNRHA will distribute them to clients.

Arizona Charlie’s players can still contribute ace | PLAY points with another holiday food box delivery planned just prior to December 25, 2012. Arizona Charlie’s Casinos is committed to providing at least 100 food boxes to the SNRHA no matter how many points are given. With help from players, the goal is to provide 500 food boxes.

This is the first time in Arizona Charlie’s Casinos history allowing players the opportunity to contribute their points to help provide a holiday meal for those in the community. For more information, visit www.arizonacharlies.com.
