The Informer Gives Thanks

The Informer Media Group wishes everyone a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Below are the thoughts of some of the contributors on this very American holiday (The United States was the first country to create a national holiday to give thanks) which has transcended boundaries and become global.

Thanksgiving is more than just a day of meals; it is also a day to give thanks.

This year, when I give thanks, I reflect on how blessed I am in my life.

I am thankful to have my friends out here in Las Vegas.  These friends have become my family.  Much like family, we know that we can always count on each other.

We live in a country where free speech is not only tolerated, but encouraged.  This year’s elections proved that.  No matter the viewpoint, people were allowed to share and discuss them in multiple forums.  I am thankful for that.

I am thankful to call Las Vegas my home.  It is here where I met some of the most truly amazing people.  Las Vegas has a sense of community that is hard to find anywhere else.  We have a city that is large, yet small all at the same time.  It is here where I have met many incredible nonprofit organizations as well.  It would seem that when there is an issue, there is also someone in Southern Nevada working on a solution.

Finally, I am thankful for my Informer Media Group family, which includes all of our contributors, partners and business associates. It is the contributions from each of these that make us who we are today.  Of course, I could not miss giving thanks to our readers, without your continued support and suggestions, we would not have evolved as fast as we did in the past two-and-one-half years.

Thank you and Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for my renewed relationship with God, relatives, and friends. Most of all I am thankful for second chances.

Living in Las Vegas for more than 34 years, I know that with the unlimited buffets, restaurants and offers to dine with friends that Thanksgiving Day could become little more than a day of gluttony. However, two events have occurred this year that have shown me that I need to stop worrying about where I will eat this year and more about giving thanks.

In June, I was offered an incredible deal to move into a brand new unit in my complex. I was thrilled, although unprepared, and arrogantly thought this would be SO easy. The move was postponed to July, which is not only one of the hottest months of the year, but broke records for heat in 2012. One moving company never showed up, one moving company only worked 6 hours and I injured my sciatic nerve while moving. Kim Sakren and Koren Ng helped me packed and were such a help. Joan Lambert and Michael Monahan went above and beyond to make certain I was in my new home. To this day, I am so blown away by everyone’s help.

In September, I was given the opportunity to become the Communications Manager of the Informer Media Group. We all have the same goals for the Informer Media Group and this has truly been a fun, exhausting, exhilarating, joyous time for me. I look forward to continuing our evolution and transformation and I thank everyone for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful achievement.

I am thankful that every morning I open my eyes and know that I have another day to live on this earth. My life’s joy is having the family I have and grateful for the love we all share. I have the best children; Debbie, Pete and Joe, that a mother can ask for and I am happy for the best friends I have made through the years.

So thank you to everyone and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
