An Ounce of Prevention

With the debate going on about health care today, I’m sure you have heard of the focus on preventive medicine. I’m also sure you’ve heard the old saying an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Preventive medicine or preventive care consists of measures taken to prevent diseases, rather than waiting until they become full blown diseases and need to be cured. If we took the steps necessary to prevent ailments such as obesity, diabetes, we would save billions in health care costs.

Now at this point, you may be saying this is easier said than done. But in reality small things like exercise, eating right, and focusing on things that will help us to improve our health. Studies have shown that getting just 75 to 150 minutes of exercise per week could extend your life by four to seven years. Not bad for a three hour investment, that’s also not including nutrition changes.

Studies have also shown that exercise reduces the risk of breast cancer in women as well. Also being around positive people reduces blood pressure and heart disease. So there you have invested three hours a week in your health and surround yourself with positive people and you can reap the rewards. For more information on nutrients that can change your health go to my good friend Dr. Donald A. Ozello’s page at www.championshipchriopractic.com.

Until next time keep reaching for your goals.

As a child I was inactive and overweight. That changed for me around age 13 when I became involved in sports.  By age 19, I had entered the competitive bodybuilding arena.   As a result of questions I was receiving from the public regarding training, etc, I became a Certified Personal Trainer.

For the last 13 years, I have been helping people with their fitness goals whether it is weight loss, weight gain or reshaping themselves at their goal weight.  I enjoy assisting people by providing the tools they need to achieve their fitness goals.  It is a privileged to inform and educate the readers of the Las Vegas Informer so that they can have the knowledge and confidence to reach their goals.

  1. Great article. Injury prevention is easier, faster and less expensive than injury rehabilitation.
