The Range 702 Veteran Employees to Run A 5K in Support of Local Heroes

061113_LV_CommunityThe Range 702 Range Masters Bryan Colston, United States Navy, and Carlos Campos, United States Marine Corps, will run alongside other Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans to support local heroes in need of housing during the 5K for Heroes.

The community can take part in helping some of these veterans get back on their feet by sponsoring The Range 702 employees and veterans, Bryan and Carlos, who will both be running in the 5K presented by America Helping Heroes and Horses4Heroes.

As a former Air Rescue Swimmer in the U.S. Navy stationed in Coronado, CA for nine years, Bryan is now employed at The Range 702 as Lead Range Master and provides one-on-one firearm training for customers and tourists. “I’m in charge of over 10 Range Safety Officers at The Range 702, all of whom are ex-military, so leading by example is an important part of my job,” said Bryan. “Since supporting fellow veterans is a priority for me, runs with a cause like this are very close to my heart…plus, this is a great opportunity to get in shape for my wedding in September.” Bryan will be joined in the 5K by his The Range 702 colleague, Carlos, who is ex US Marine Corps.

5K for Heroes will be held June 15 at Sunset Park at 2601 E. Sunset Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds raised will be used to help house and care for local heroes who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. “There are so many young veterans living in local homeless shelters due to unemployment and an overall lack of care,” said Angela Alegna, founder of America Helping Heroes and author of Coming Home Moving Forward – Obliterating the Seven Obstacles of Life After War “Can you imagine serving your country and winding up with no work or place to live? I have met many of these young veterans and their being homeless is absurd and unjust.”

“The participation of The Range 702 is particularly moving because they are showing support to their peers and fellow veterans,” Angela continued. “These guys are simply amazing. The Range 702 has many employees who have served in our current conflicts. I love any business that supports our newest veterans!”

  1. This year, gun ranges are extending their tongue-in-cheek promotions to Valentine’s Day, always a moneymaker in this matrimony-and-sex-obsessed town.
