Cannery Casino Resorts Donates 40 Hotel Rooms to Red Cross for Displaced Fire Victims
Cannery Casino & Hotel and Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel Answer Call for Help
Due to the Carpenter One wildfire, more than 500 Kyle Canyon residents have been forced to leave their homes. While many are held up at the Red Cross temporary shelter at Bilbray Elementary, some families are looking for a place they can be with their displaced families privately. To answer this call, Cannery Casino Resorts has offered 40 hotel rooms to displaced families for 10 days, the amount of time that the fire department estimates that this fire will be contained.
“We are very concerned about the displaced families who have been separated from their homes during these mandatory evacuations,” said Xavier Walsh, Cannery Casino Resorts Chief Operating Officer. “We have a longstanding practice of supporting the community and so when we heard about the evacuation we knew we needed to do something impactful for our neighbors by making them more comfortable and contributing to the Red Cross relief effort.”
The donation is timely in that the Red Cross is finding a need for a safe and private place for some of its families to go while they wait to be cleared to go back home.
“The generosity of the Cannery Casino Resorts comes at a time when the residents of Southern Nevada need it the most,” said Jeff Brewer, Operations Director of the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada. “We appreciate this fine partnership.”
