Charles Whitby is a man who has long been recognized for his sense of fashion. “I began by creating partnerships with other up and coming minority-owned fashion designers. From there, Miami-based fine accessory clothier Sebastian Cruz Couture presented me a franchise opportunity that allowed me to distribute their product line through my company, The Dapper Gentleman,” Whitby said. “Now we are doing front-end marketing for eight companies and the list continues to grow.”
Aggressive marketing and a strong social media presence coupled with an emphasis on outstanding customer service have fueled an ongoing buzz around The Dapper Gentleman since it started doing business. According to Whitby, lapel flowers and unique pocket squares are their biggest sellers to date. Providing distinctive accessories for weddings has also become one of its most lucrative niches.
“There is only one other company out there that is selling lapel flowers and our customers are really enjoying them,” Whitby said. “Many of the ensembles we have published on the social networks are getting rave reviews and that has also been great for business. Things have been moving very quickly and these are some exciting times.”
The Dapper Gentleman’s clients are also singing its praises. Galen Anderson said that he was “in awe” after receiving his lapel accessories.
