The Empowerment Column 2015: The Fork in the Road

So many times we reach a point where we must make a choice or decision that will determine whether we stay in, leave or enter a relationship.  We may have to decide whether to stay on or quit our job or we may have to decide whether to go to college or join the military.  We may need to decide to invest or not invest money in opportunities that will come our way.  That point just before making a major decision that will affect the ultimate outcome of our lives has for a long time been referred to as coming to that fork in the road.

fork in the road

There will be moments when we reach that fork in the road where our decision leads us to heaven or hell or whether our decision will result in reward or consequence.  Simply stated, your life is and will continue to be the result of the choices you make and direction you take.  Blaming and excuses is the recipe that losers use to fail while the winners are always sharing stories that involve persistence and determination over challenges and obstacles.

No one makes mistakes because they see they are making a mistake.  How many times have you heard an investor say “If I would have known that I was going to lose my money investing in that idiot I would have never given him my money.”  Or, how many times have you heard a woman say “If I would have known that this man was going to cause me so much grief I would have never gotten involved with him”

Costly and painful mistakes happen because we did not see which way we are going or we did not foresee what would happen before making the decision.  This is why we use maps and also why we use the headlights when driving down a dark road.  Our ancestors even warned us to “always look before you leap” and you also may have heard that “forewarned is forearmed.”

Albert Einstein is most famous for proving the relationship between time and space which is known as the Law of Relativity or E=MC².  All this simply means is wherever you are there is always when you are there and that these 2 things must coexist or we don’t exist according to Einstein.  Where you are is space and when you are is time.  Where you are is called a map of the USA or whatever country you happen to be in but when you are is called your Personal Time-Map available exclusively at

Your Time-Map shows you in advance what to expect if you go in any direction in the same way a map of the USA predicts that Canada will happen if you go north and Mexico will happen if you go south.  Neither map (time or space) can predict which direction you will choose because that is determined by your free will which is not bound by time or space and that’s what makes it totally and completely free, but both maps show you what your directional choices are and what to expect regardless of the direction chosen by your free will.

Once again, your life is the result of the choices you make or direction you take.  Where you are at this exact moment is simply the accumulative result of every previous choice you have made.  What will happen next in your life – will be determined by or will be the result of which way you choose to go right now.  In the same way that you never drive in the dark without using headlights is the same and exact reason to never live in the dark without using your Personal Time-Map.
