DCI kicked off the season on June 23 in Indianapolis and will log over 10,000 miles across the U.S., ending with the finals on Aug. 13 in Indianapolis. DCI will stop in over 100 cities in 39 states and the film will be shown in select movie theaters nationwide. DCI is a nonprofit global youth organization that promotes and inspires excellence in music. Ages range from 13 to 22 and they represent the best of our youths. Six world class corps participated in this exciting event and the first place winner was the Bluecoats from Dayton, Ohio. The Bluecoats had stunning new uniforms. Downside Up opened with quick running steps and quick music beats that captured us. www.dci.org
Second place winner was Carolina Crown from Ft. Mill, South Carolina also winning first place in visual and music captions.
Third place winner was The Cadets performing Awakening, the story of statues that come to life.
Fourth place winner was the Cavaliers from Rosemont, Illinois. Sporting their new black uniforms and part of their performance included singing. Their music and formation showed why they won seven times in past competitions.
Fifth place went to Phantom from Rockford, Illinois. and were two time world champions.
Sixth place was given to Boston Crusaders who performed songs from Don Quixoti.
Look for the dates of the future DCI Tour and go to see these fabulous young adults’ performances. I look forward to the finals in August 2016.
