The Empowerment Column 2016: Between Divinity and Humanity
By Rev. Thabiti

As we explore into what’s between Divinity and Humanity let’s begin with the undeniable fact that the omnipresent nature of the Spirit or Divinity means “There is no spot where God is not.” For this reason there cannot be a Divinity separate from Humanity. Therefore there is no such place that is between Divinity and Humanity because they are not separate from each other – they are One within each other. Divinity is “The Presence” that is never an absence. It is the center with no circumference. It is the center of our being. It is all that there is.
Humanity is just another way for Divinity to express itself in and through as all things. Even though there is no such space between Divinity and Humanity, what we can do is examine some distinctions between the 2. As human beings we all exist on a plane of law between inhaling and exhaling. This same law is why we live in an “As ye sow so shall ye reap” Universe. We exist between an inner and outer world and these 2 worlds perfectly mirror and reflect each other. This is why our life perfectly reflects our attitude, perceptions and beliefs. This is why anyone with a bad attitude s guaranteed to be miserable.
Humanity is who we are collectively as human beings. Within us collectively there are those among us who fall short of living the ideals of humanity such as corruption or deceptive harm to others but humanity as a whole or overall is good. In Humanity the good always outnumbers or is much larger than the bad.
Humanity is what makes us God-like. Humanity means we are made in the image and likeness of God. The distinction of humanity verses all other living things is – just like the Creator created us, we also create. For example bears don’t build submarines and dolphins make cell phones. Only those made in the image and likeness of the Creator can do it.
Humanity is why we do humane things such as save the life of a plant, insect, animal or person. Humanity is why we clean up our messes. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, internally – externally – eternally. Humanity comes from Divinity and returns again and again to Divinity.
This week’s message is dedicated to my amazing mom Virginia Mae Chavis Williams Alexander. I miss you Mom! Thank you for being the perfect Mom for me and for always believing in me and for never giving up on me. I know that you are proud that I became all of the success you always knew I would be. Like I always said to you Mom “Because I am one of five of your children means that no matter what level of greatness I achieve, I shall always remain only 1/5th of the person you are.”
