The Empowerment Column 2016: A Reason to Live

With the hysteria and craziness taking place over the anticipation of who may win this year’s presidential election we might wonder how much emotional damage there will be for the losing side after the election.  Some celebrities and unknown patriots have threatened to leave or evacuate the country if he or she is elected.  People on both sides think it will be the end of the world as we know it if he or she gets elected.  Some say there may even be riots or property damage or physical injuries or worse.  Seems like a mess, yes?

PSST! – By the way if you want a superior advantage or preview peek into seeing who will win just go to or you can wait like everybody else.

There is without a doubt an underlying national frustration in society.  There is no shortage of folks who are angry or upset about one thing or another.  In fact, being miserable all of the time has become a comfort zone or a way of life for far too many.  Is there anyone who is not a victim today?

Complete and total hopelessness means that all reasons to live have been exhausted.  Depression is anger turned inward.  All of this is due to extreme selfishness or the ‘It’s all about me syndrome.’  People who live this way take just about everything personally.  This ‘Me Me Me – My My My – Get Get Get’ attitude is at the root of all of these problems.  Most people approach relationships or each other on the basis of a perceived value in what they think they will get, extract or accomplish from it.  After entering such relationships if what was hoped to get doesn’t get gotten, then we now have a breakdown in the relationship because the ‘get seeker’ is left feeling unfulfilled.

The question “What’s in it for me?” simply needs to be replaced by “Who needs my love today and how may I serve?”  If this happens a new life and a new world will emerge for every individual who does it.

Attachment is also huge problem causing so much despair and hopelessness.  For example, some may want to commit suicide because they lost something or someone they were attached to.  Disappointment always comes from an attachment to an expectation or outcome that does not happen.  Someone may have lost their job or had money stolen or lost someone they loved so much that they just can’t live without them.

If you decide to make everything about you then no one else or nothing else matters.  Suicide means one is running from or avoiding a fear of an imagined future or is acting out of extreme selfishness with reckless disregard or concern to how it will affect others.

The first thing is we need to create a new mantra in our lives that says from now on I am causing amazing new possibilities in my life with no attachment to outcome.  Second, we must remember that our most ancient ancestors showed us that when storms happen (which is just a natural course of all things) they would go inside of caves and wait there until the storm passed.  Afterward, instead of self pity for losing everything there was gratitude for being allowed another day to build a new tomorrow.  The point is, no matter how devastating the storm…it will always pass.

Your life is a gift – that’s the reason to live.  Your life is the most precious gift of all and not some stupid problem needing to be solved.  Live as if your whole life depends on it – because it does. Within you there is a voice that says “Look to me, I AM your source, I AM your supply – Come to me with all of your heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

Eternal Blessings
